About-
Common flameback is also called golden back. They are 28-32 cm in length. And weights 67-100 g. They have six different sub-species. They come in the category of least concern.
Habitat-
They are found in subtropical and tropical dry forests, subtropical and tropical moist lowlands forests, and subtropical and tropical mangrove forests. They are found in countries like Bangladesh 🇧🇩, Brunei 🇧🇳, Cambodia 🇰🇭, China 🇨🇳, India 🇮🇳, Indonesia 🇮🇩, Vietnam🇻🇳, etc.
Diet-
They mostly feed on insects 🐛 and fruits 🍒. They also feed on small scorpions 🦂, cockroaches, ants🐜, larva 🐛, berries, fruits, and seeds.
Identification -
They have golden back, black eye strips. The adult male has luminous colored plumage, they have a black color upper mantel, neck, and some upperparts. The rest of the upper parts are olive and golden in complexion. The lower back is glossy red. The under part is white and red color on the back. Females are similar to males but females are duller than males. The Male has a red crown on his head while the female possesses a black crown on her head.
Mating and Nesting-
Breeding varies between Feb and July. During mating both the male and the female chase each other. The chasing may include crest raising, bowing, and head swinging. The male feeds the female, it is a part of courtship. They make their nest hole above 1, 5, and 10 meters. The females lay 3 eggs. It takes 11 days to incubate. After hatching the chicks may leave the nest in 20 days.

The common flameback has only three toes, a golden back, a small bill, a black horizontal strip below the chick, and a black nape.
